Re: Vietnam holiday tips
I've taken some inspiration from this thread.

I've been Thailand twice now, been there done it etc, and it about time I spread my wings and explored other parts of Asia, and Vietnam was on my list of countries to visit.

Anybody been too sihanoukville in Cambodia, heard really good reports...

I've got a tip Ernest

When flying out over London take a look at the LondonStadium, see what the view would be like a few rows closer.

Motorbike tours out of town look superb but in town fuck that

Re: Vietnam holiday tips
The motorbike situation there is utterly ridiculous and imo that is the over riding memory that most tourists have of the place once the memory of nice beaches and bays begin to fade, which is a bit of a shame I suppose. It's pretty much a tourist attraction in itself.

90m people and 43m registered motorbikes and goodness only knows how many unregistered. What's not to like?

In Vietnam at the moment. Spent few days in Hanoi and then travelled to Cat Ba Island where staying in a beach resort. Its a great place and I think better to do Halong Bay from Cat Ba as less busy and get to see Lan Ha bay.

Loving Vietnam. Just off for breakfast on a golden sandy beach

You'll love it, Hoi An's lovely, all the restaurants, .bars & shops have paper lanterns outside so at night it's magical and the food's fantastic! We rented bikes and rode into the local paddy fields, had a great time locals friendly, saw an old bloke riding a water buffalo down the road and loads of herons

I thought you had jacked it in anwyay, Ern son?

You should be ok, a downpour or 2 is good anyway, you just don't want it raining all day as Balders stated it is right now.

Re: Vietnam holiday tips
Only thing I paid for in dollars was cabs.

When I say 15p a beer I mean out of a keg into a cup.

For a bottle it'll be a bit more.

Cannot stress enough about the food in Hoi An. There's a place called Cafe 22 which is always busy but if you catch it it's well worth it.
